This is a post that never was published from 2010. I am so happy that I found this nugget. I will try to get the attached video and upload.
It is a good thing to be reminded that we are on pilgrimage. Sometime we fall off our horse. Sometime we get knocked off by the wind, and sometimes we jump off a moving train. In the case of some, we literally have been injured. It does not matter how the pain has been inflicted. The point is that we have noticed that we are no longer invincible. Each of us has felt betrayed or hurt or trampled upon. This video brings to life some of the challenges for the homeless of Raleigh.
Mary Jane Clarke, the producer, editor, and creator of this piece of film, is simply trying her hardest to be an advocate. As Christians, one of our callings is to preach the good news to the poor, and to take care of the widow and orphan. This is what St. James called “True Religion.” Where are we on that issue in America? Are we taking care of the orphan? Are we doing enough, as people who have “seen a great light,” to actually use that energy in the lives of the lost? Where are we?
